Foods to avoid while taking Ozempic should be based on individual experiences, as tolerance may vary.

“No foods are completely off-limits,” says Dawkins. “Some people may tolerate these foods without issue, and others may do well with small amounts of a particular food.”

But, if you eat something that doesn’t agree with you while taking Ozempic, a few remedies may help.

Rest

“If someone does [consume] one of the above foods and does not feel well, they should rest,” says Czerwony. Dawkins adds that lying down can help manage symptoms such as dizziness or nausea.

Hydrate

Warm or hot herbal or ginger tea can offer relief from nausea while also improving hydration, explains Dawkins. “If a person experiences diarrhea, hydration is also important due to the fluid loss occurring,” she says. Proper hydration is the first step to correcting constipation as a possible side effect of Ozempic, she adds.

Consider Over-the-Counter Remedies

If mild discomfort continues, simple over-the-counter remedies such as an antacid for reflux or an anti-diarrheal for loose stools may help, explains Harris-Pincus. Speak with your doctor or registered dietitian for personalized advice, she adds.

Keep a Food Log

Keep a record of foods that trigger reactions, noting preparation, portion and speed of eating, adds Dawkins.
